The debate with the President of the Institute of National Remembrance (IPN) - Leon Kieres - focused on the Jedwabne case. The discussion caused strong feelings. "You are a censor of Polish history!!!" shouted a young man attending the meeting.
Professor Kieres gave strong and calm answers and refuted accusations. He was talking about the role of IPN in the process of "unfalsifying" the history of Polish-Jewish relations. He pointed that due to the IPN, the public was informed that Germans contributed to the tragedy of Jews in Jedwabne. Simultaneously he declared that by using his power he would do everything to help those damaged by the communist regime to receive their files, so that the investigation taken up by the IPN could proceed despite numerous obstacles.
A group of young people who did not find Professor's declarations convincing handed out leaflets.
