10th International Competition of Contemporary Chamber Music The Competution is a tribute to prof. Marka Stachowskiego

On 3 September 2006, in Kraków's Philharmonic Hall, during the Gala Concert, the awards of this year's jubilee edition of the Competition were presented to the prize-winners, totalling PLN 150 000.
The Grand Prix winner is the French sextet, Capriccioso Ensemble, which performed a composition by Nicolas Bacri entitled Symphonie No. 4 during the Gala Concert.
58 soloists and ensembles from 14 countries (Poland, Austria, South Korea, Croatia, Belarus, Ukraine, Germany, UK, Italy, Russia, Japan, Serbia and France) were qualified to the 10th edition of the Competition. During three days of the auditions, the participants were evaluated by an international Jury consisting of distinguished musicians and composers. This difficult task was performed by Marta Ptaszyńska (a percussionist, composer and a professor at the University of Chicago), Geoffrey Douglas Madge (an Australian pianist, the Chairman of the Jury), Sylvain Cambreling (a conductor at the National Opera in Paris), Krzesimir Dębski (a composer and jazz violinist), Gudni Franzson (an Icelandic clarinetist), Jan Pilch (a percussionist and a professor at the Academy of Music in Kraków).
This year, for the very first time, Bravissimo Award was presented by the Polish Institute in Stockholm for the most promising Polish artist, namely Stanislaw Bromboszcz. The Jury the 10th of the International Competition of Contemporary Chamber Music, together with the organiser of the Competition, the Institute of Art, also decided that starting with 2006, the Special Award for the best performance of Polish composition would be named after Marek Stachowski. This award was presented to Lutoslawki Piano Duo from Poland.
The Gala Concert was opened by Sinfonietta Cracovia playing Sinfonietta per archi by Marek Stachowski under the baton of Maestro Sylvain Cambreling, a conductor at the National Opera in Paris. The following prize-winners in particular categories played during the concert: Lutoslawski Piano Duo from Poland, Eun hye Kim from Korea, Capriccioso Ensemble from France and, additionally, a duo: Magdalena Nasidlak (Poland) and Christopher Orton (UK), being the second prize-winners in the duo category as well as the winners of the Special Prize for the best performance of a Dutch composition: Black Out Duo from Russia.
The Gala Concert was honoured by the performance of the Special Guests:
Motion Trio (Janusz Wojtarowicz, Pawel Baranek, Marcin Gałażyn) and Sinfonietta Cracovia.
