9th International Contemporary Chamber Music in Cracow

The Competition was a tribute to Professor Marek Stachowski, a long-term chairman of the Jury, attached to the Competition from its very beginning.
9th International Competition of Contemporary Chamber Music started with the Concert of the Laureates of the previous competition editions, namely, Violarium Trio. During the next two evenings, former Grand Prix Winners, i.e. Michał Dziad and Sebastian Oroń duo and Motion Trio (accordion trio) performed.
The auditions took place on 2 and 3 September 2005 in the Concert Hall of W. Żeleński State School of Music. This year, the Jury consisted of Jan Pilch (Chairman), Hanna Kulenty, Paul Patterson, Geoffrey Douglas Madge, Roman Jabłoński and Marco Roosink.
Over 60 applications came in for that edition of the Competition and 41 soloists and ensembles were qualified, i.e. 69 participants from 11 countries (Poland, the Netherlands, Spain, Germany, Ukraine, Slovakia, South Korea, Belarus, Mexico, France and the UK).
The Gala Concert of the 9th International Competition of Contemporary Chamber Music took place on 4 September 2005 at 7.00 p.m. at the Philharmonic Hall in Kraków with the performances of first prize winners in particular categories (soloists, duos, trios, quartets).
The Grand Prix Winner, selected from among them, became a soloist, Katherine Anokhina from Belarus.
The statuettes were presented by Agnieszka Odorowicz, the Vice Minister of Culture and Professor Jan Pilch, Chairman of the Jury.
The Special Guest of the Gala Concert was a world-famous violinist, Vadim Brodski, and a distinguished pianist, Geffrey D. Madge
