On December 3- 27, 2004 in the National Museum in Cracow, a Photo Exhibition by Andrzej Słodkowski was held.

The exhibition entitled "We believe in dreams - Cuba" was an element of the international media project organized by the "Joining Worlds Foundation" and the "Institute of Art" Association of Academic Culture.  

An impression of island emerges from individual meetings, personal reflections and many other interactions of the author.

In the portraits of people we can see not only the dramatic history of numerous revolutions and rebels but also, at the same time, the uncommonly fiery temperament of the Cuban.  

It is expressed in hot salsa, poetry of movement and musical fascination. Omnipresent romance, macho mentality - these are only a few of the important motives of the presented pictures.

This story in photographs was an attempt to come to grips with the endemic mentality and climate of Cuba, where in the near future everything can change and take new shape. These photographs, taken over the course of a few years, have a great importance and help us to understand the lives of Cubans both exactly and figuratively in the "five to twelve o'clock" of social changes.  

However the exhibition is not designed to deal with history or politics. Its aim is to stimulate inspirations and new trends, promote international help and solidarity of artists and creators. It is to educate and bring emerging new artistic values to broad circles of people both in the country and abroad.

Andrzej Słodkowski - a famous photographer, artist, and author of many books and films. He graduated from the Photography Department and the Law and Administration Faculty at the University of Silesia. With his camera he has reached more then 80 countries. He tramped the Sahara, Amazonian jungles, exotic towns of East Asia, and the South Pacific. His films were released by such prestigious channels as: the Discovery Channel, Global, CNN, TSN. He cooperates with, for example: the Promotion Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Foundation for the Development of the Educational System Socrates, the National Center for Culture, and Polish Television. Moreover he deals with publishing within the framework of Globtrotter Books.

The exhibition "We believe in dreams - Cuba" took place under the patronage of Waldemar Dąbrowski, Minister of Culture.
