On 2 February 2004, the Polityka Salon hosted Władysław Frasyniuk - the leader of Unia Wolności (Freedom Union). "Looking at our politics I feel that we are once again in communist period under the PRL" - this was the beginning of his speech.
Those gathered were interested in the future of the Freedom Union. "Entering the EU creates an opportunity for Poland and also for the Freedom Union," said Frasyniuk. "Now Poland needs a liberal-democratic party and this will not emerge from the union of such parties as the Polish Social-Democratic Party (SdPl) and the Freedom Union (UW). It must be an entirely new project."
