The 6th edition of Annual Krzysztof Penderecki International Contemporary Chamber Music took place from August 28th to August 30 th 2002. The Jury chaired by Marek Stachowski, under the Honorary Patronage of Krzysztof Penderecki qualified 82 applicants - including 24 soloists and 21 ensembles from all over the world. The Special Award for the best performance of a piece written by a Polish composer went to Mikołaj Pałosz for Capriccio per Siegfried Palm by Krzysztof Penderecki. The Special Award for the most avant-garde performance was granted to Milica Micić for Piano Sonata by Karl Vine. The duo of Agnieszka Marucha(violin)and Wojciech Jasińki(piano)was given another Special Award for the best performance of a piece written by a Dutch composer - Novatelle by Willema Jeths. The first award in the soloist category was granted to Małgorzata Isphording(harpsichord) and ex aequo to Agata Zubel(voice).
The Concert of the Laureates was held on the 30 th of August in the Cracovian Philharmonic Hall. This time a special guest performed at the Gala Concert, the pre-eminent violin player from Byelorussia, Vadim Brodski.
Every year, the Laureates of the Competition and the Special Guests - this time, Ivan Monighetti, participate in the Warsaw re-edition Concert in December 2002.
