The 4th Annual Krzysztof Penderecki International Competitionn of Contemporary Chamber Music took place between September 20th and 22nd, 2000, in Cracow. After three days of hearings at "Florianka" Concert Hall, the international Jury under the honorable chairmanship of Krzysztof Penderecki selected laureates from among 48 artists and formations in four categories: soloist, duet, trio and quartet-quintet.

On September 22nd, 2000, there was a piano recital of Ralph van Raat, an excellent pianist, and the first Award laureate of Gaudeamus Competition in 1999. On September 23rd, 2000, the Gala Concert was held. The Concert of Laureates was attended by winners of the first places and Special Guests: Konstanty A. Kulka and Robert Aitken. The Jury granted the Grand Prix Award in the amount of 30.000 PLN to Motion Trio and the Quartet of Witold Lutosławski. The Gala Concert was visited by excellent guests.

 

The Warsaw edition of the Gala Concert of Fourth Annual Krzysztof Penderecki Competition of Contemporary Chamber Music was held on December 14th, 2000, at the National Concert Hall. The audience welcomed young artists enthusiastically, requesting repetitions and applauding. The Special Guest of that concert was an excellent, world-known violinist Grigiorij Żyslin who played String sonata D-major by Siergiej Prokoview and Divertimento by Igor Strawiński.
